A Call for Thanks

With all that’s happening in the world, it’s easy to get caught up in the cycle of fear & reaction. Never forget the positive power of a simple thank-you to break the chain.

It’s hard to remember that without darkness there is no light. It’s only thanks to the generosity & kindness of others that we are all able to thrive. Maybe it’s a friendly smile from a stranger on a day you feel down. Maybe it’s a nudge in the right direction from a mentor who changes the course of your life.

Imagine now that you’re walking down the street and see a bright red phone booth with the words Give Thanks emblazoned on its side. Would you walk in or simply pass it by? If you did enter, what might happen? Who would you call and thank? What would you say?

In cooperation with the Museum of Craft & Design in San Francisco, we did just that by inviting people off the street to step into our phone booth and make a thank-you call.

There’s a phone booth right next to you. Okay, so it’s not a phone booth but it’s a phone, and that amazing little device has the power to brighten someone’s day. All you have to do is pick it up and call. Don’t text. Don’t email. Don’t snapchat or Instagram or Facebook or MarcoPolo. Call. If the events of the last year have taught us anything, it’s that there is never a bad time to say thank you. As 2016 winds down, we encourage you to take advantage of the holiday lull and make your own call for thanks.

To celebrate the spirit of gratitude, we gave 10 Karma ($1) to all our users on 12/22 to donate directly to charities of their choice. If you haven’t yet, download dailyKARMA here and we’ll give you 10 Karma ($1) for free to get your giving started.

Thank YOU!

Coming in 2017: The easiest way to donate to all your favorite charities

comingsoon

Our vision for dailyKARMA has always been simple.

We aim to make giving part of everyday life by providing a platform for people to easily donate and advocate for the charities they love most.  As 2016 winds down, we want to share exciting news about what we have planned for 2017.

We are excited to announce that we’re making it even easier to donate to the organizations you love most by rolling out an awesome new program that you’ll love: Cause Funds.  Here’s your chance to find out what they’re all about!

A Cause Fund is the easiest way to donate to all of your favorite charities at one time in one place. Think of it as your charitable investment portfolio.  Choose from a suggested dailyKARMA Cause Fund based on a cause you care about, or create your own Cause Fund. Select a monthly gift amount & you’re all set.  Your monthly gift is spread evenly between all of the charities in that fund.

Why Cause Funds?

– Streamline your giving: Make all of your charitable donations in one place. Great for tax purposes!
– See your impact: Track your total impact with easy graphics & reports.
– Choose giving, not gifts:  Share your funds with friends & family and ask them to donate instead of giving a present for holidays.

To learn more about Cause Funds & to receive $5 towards your first donation, visit here:  http://www.dailykarma.com/cause-funding/

TEDxLA & dailyKARMA

We imagined a world where giving is a part of everyday life.

What if the power to make a positive impact on your community were in the palm of your hand? What if you could give back right at the moment you’re inspired? Those questions are at the core of dailyKARMA’s mission. We believe that giving back on the go can be simple, social and easy.

For our TEDxLA City Experiment we challenged Angelenos to turn their selfies SELFLESS by joining our Impact Pledge. Throughout November users received challenges ranging from giving 50 cent donations to posting content for their favorite organization through a free iOS & Android app.  Charity partners  SBCC Thrive, BFLA & WSFB engaged their communities to join the pledge. Could we encourage people to give back more frequently?   Would they engage with an app because it allowed them to give back more easily?

The answer was a resounding yes.  Not only were people donating to their favorite charity, but 70% of users continued to donate to other organizations. Citizens of Los Angeles had not only taken our Impact Pledge, they followed through on it.

Overwhelmed by their positivity & action, we posed another question: “What inspires you to give back?”  We were blown away with what they had to say, which you can see in the video above.

At dailyKARMA, we believe that small change can drive huge impact and that everyone has the capacity to give.  Our Impact Pledge not only proved us right, but also provided a voice for others to share their passion for the community.

We want to know what inspires you to give back.  Download the free dailyKARMA app and tell us.  We’ve given you a free dollar to donate just for downloading.
